Announcement Concerning the Passing of Jim Von Gremp

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This morning, I received tragic news concerning the passing of our dear friend and fellow golfer, Jim Von Gremp. As many of you might know, Jim had valiantly fought a long battle with cancer for the last 6+ years. In addition to being a good friend, Jim was also a neighbor of mine at Playa Royale and we spent many years working together in various governance roles in support of the greater Playa Royale community. Jim is survived by his wife Susan who was always Jim’s anchor and soulmate throughout their marriage and especially during his long and difficult battle with cancer. Susan provided many of us with regular updates concerning Jim’s ever evolving cancer odyssey, for which we were always very grateful for. Jim was much loved and admired by all golfers and he will be sorely missed by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Susan and the family.

We will have an opportunity early next year to have a formal Memorial golf event where we will be able to remember and pay tribute to Jim, as well as other fellow golfers that have recently passed.  Additional information concerning this event will be forthcoming later this year.

With deep sorrow,

Markus

Test post

Here is a post for testing  only.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book.

It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

El Tigre Members northern tour

Attention all El Tigre Members.

Discussions have been in the works for sometime now with Steve and a few others about having something that would bring our membership together in the summer/fall months.

The general idea is to have an opportunity to visit some of the areas where our members come from, alternating yearly between Canada and the USA, and having member/members from the area host the group for some fun, golf, and local site seeing.

We are trying to launch this idea this September in Kelowna BC, and have branded it “El Tigre Members northern tour”.

As you all know we have a very large contingent of members from Kelowna and area and as well Kelowna is known as one of Canadas premier tourist areas boasting mountains, lakes, wineries, as well as a golf mecca with over 40 golf courses within a 100 mile area.

The tentative date for this is slated for September 10-14.

The hopes are to have a Welcoming reception on the 10th, followed by 2-3 days of golf with some sort of game designed to involve individual as well as couples.

Between golf, plans will be made to take advantage of some of the Okanagans site seeing opportunities.

Final plans TBA,

At this point we are looking for participation numbers so we can look into hotel costs, golf costs etc.

Kindly email

alanbayliss@gmail.com by the end of April if you are interested in such a event, at which time we can finalize the details, as well if you have any suggestion please add them to your email.

Looking forward to hearing from as many of you as possible in the coming weeks.

Regards

Alan Bayliss

Men’s Mixer – Wednesday, March 26th, 2025

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This Wednesday we will be playing a four-person “stableford” team game. All teams will need to include the scores of three players for each hole. Points will be awarded as follows: net bogey – 1 point, net par – 2 points, net birdie – 3 points, net eagle – 5 points and net double eagle – 7 points. Please record both gross and net scores for all players on your team and provide team summary totals for the front 9, the back 9 and the total 18-hole score.

Also, make sure that you circle any player on your team that had a gross birdie (“2”) on any of the Par 3 holes. Lastly, make sure that you repair any of your divots and also rake out any bunker that you may have entered.

Good luck to all golfers!

Markus
