COUPLES LEAGUE JAN. 12TH

Hi everyone,

We’ll start this new year with a two person team, playing a strategy game. The scores of only 9 holes will count using 2 par 5s, 3 par 3s and 4 par 4s. After each hole the team must decide if that hole will be used or not. Hope your strategy works out!

We tee off at 10:00, the cost is 100 pesos per couple and the maximum handicap is 40.

Hasta Domingo

Ladies League – January 10, 2020

Hello Ladies:

This will be our first game with the new handicap system. We will not be using our handicaps for the this game but we will explain to you how to calculate your max score under the new system before the round.

The game this week is Fairways and Greens.  Handicaps are not used to score the game.

Each player will get 5 points for hitting the fairway off the tee. You only get 2 points if you are not in the fairway. Then subtract your total putts for the hole and that is your score. On par 3’s you get 5 points if you are in the fairway in front of the hole or if you are on the green.

Keep your regular score and also keep your points per hole.

Example:

On hole #1 you hit the fairway and have 2 putts;  you get 3 points. On hole #2 you miss the fairway and green and have 3 putts – you get -1 point.

The skills this week will be KP on # 2 and #17, longest putt on #13 and we will have a draw for a “booby prize” for everyone that goes in the water on #6.

You must sign up in the system before Wednesday at midnight.
Remember to “SAVE” your calendar – that option is at the bottom of the page. Vivian Heistad will be the emergency contact for any changes after Wednesday at midnight. vheistad@hotmail.com

Looking forward to seeing you all on Friday.

Carole, Francine, Janet, Mary Lou and Vivian

Skins Game Changes

I have updated the Skins Game description on the website. Here’s a list of changes:

  • Players may play from the blue, blue/white, white, or white/gold combo tees. Older players with higher handicaps may also choose to play from the gold tees. (Age + white tee course handicap >= 83.)
  • Players are encouraged to pick up if they cannot score better than net double bogey.
  • Players with handicaps greater than 18 will receive their full handicap strokes in the team game, but still will not get more than one stroke for skins purposes.*

* Let’s say your team has 4 players, 3 of whom are 1-18 handicaps and 1 who is a 20. On hole #4, everyone makes par. Your team score for the hole is -4, because the 20 handicap gets 2 strokes. But when you call out the score for the skins run-through, you say “5 for 4”, not “5 for 3”. To avoid confusion, it might help to mark your scorecard as shown in the video at the end of the Skins Game description on the website.

Wine and Tees – an afternoon clinic and social for ladies!

Tuesday, January 14th 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

The Lady’s League Committee has arranged for an afternoon clinic and social with Hector and Steve. Half of the ladies will work on the range with Hector and the other half will do a putting clinic on the practice green with Steve. After 45 minutes we will switch.

This event is open to all lady members not just ladies that play with the league on Friday’s. If you know someone who might enjoy it, please bring them along!

The cost will be 500 pesos for the clinic, appetizers and one drink each. Please email Mary Lou Plant at marylouplant58@gmail.com to register. Payment will be collected in the club house at the time of check in.

We hope that you can join us!

Men’s Mixer – Wednesday, January 8th, 2020

Hola El Tigre Golfers

Since we were unable to complete last Wednesday’s event due to rain, we will keep the game the same as last week. If you already paid your $100 pesos last week, Don will credit this to you and there will be no need for you to repay.

The game for this Wednesday will be a four person team Stableford event, where each team will count the best three “net” scores for each hole. A net bogey will count for 1 point, a net par will count 2 points, a net birdie will count 3 points, and a net eagle will count 4 points. On your scorecard, please record all net and gross scores for all players, and include summary team scores for the front 9, the back nine, and the total 18 hole score. Also, please remember to circle any gross deuces “2”, repair all divots and rake out any bunkers that you may have entered. Good luck to all golfers!

Markus
