Men’s League Play Extended Through Wednesday, May 11th, 2022

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This message is in follow up to the discussion we had last Wednesday concerning plans to extend the Men’s League weekly event into May. I spoke with Steve yesterday, and he was very supportive of our plans to extend the Men’s League Wednesday event for the next two-week period. The May calendar has been updated accordingly and I would encourage anyone who is looking to participate in either of the next two weeks to sign up via the normal calendar sign up process.

Men’s Mixer – Wednesday, April 27th, 2022

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This Wednesday we will be a playing a four-person team “red/white/blue” pin placement game. All teams will need to count one best ball net score on all red pins, two net best ball scores all white pins, and three net best ball scores on all blue pins. Please record both gross and net scores for all team players and provide team score summaries for the front 9, the back 9 and the total 18-hole score. Also, please circle all gross deuces (2’s) on your scorecard and remember to repair all divots.

Reminder: Men’s League guidelines concerning unvaccinated players: The following agreement was reached by the Men’s League members: If you are unvaccinated, you need to let Markus know of your status by sending him a private email (markusgmelin@gmail.com) that will be kept confidential. For all other players, if you do not want to be paired with an unvaccinated player, you need to let Markus know of your request by sending him a private email that will also be kept confidential. Based on this information, Markus will be able to modify any of the computer-generated pairings to make sure that everyone’s wishes are honored. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Good luck to all players!

Derek Pepper Memorial Fund – Derek’s Memorial event took place last Wednesday at his house and it was a very moving occasion as everyone shared memories and paid tribute to our dear friend. I would like to thank Steve and his staff for the great job that they did in organizing the luncheon and preparing the memorial site. As previously communicated, we have agreed to establish a fund in Derek’s name that will be used to provide free golf lessons by Hector in support of underprivileged youth members living in the surrounding communities. Many people have recently approached me to say they are still planning on making a contribution to Derek’s Memorial fund. To date, we are well below the targeted funding level that we had hoped to achieve for the Memorial fund. If anyone is interested in making a contribution, we would encourage them to see or contact Steve or Steve’s Administrative Assistant, Isaura Ponce (her office is located next to Steve’s office in the El Tigre Golf Club).
