Future of El Tigre Ladies League

The El Tigre Ladies League was created some years ago as an avenue to meet new golf members.  The league gathered weekly to play the game, socialize and form new and lasting friendships.  However, over the last year, the number of ladies participating has declined significantly.  And as all of you know, the club is very busy with golfers that are vacationing in this area, and while we may be members, we are not member owners.  This could affect the number of spots we have on a weekly basis.  With that in mind, if the league is to continue and grow, you may wish to reconsider your participation.  Failure to do so could result in the number of spots being limited.  It’s your league and I hope you will continue to support it.  Thank you

Sunday January 23rd

Hola todos,

Since we have new flags, we’ll be playing the flag game this week. We will be teams of four and will use 3 net scores on white flags and 2 net scores on red and blue flags.

Tee time is at 10:00, cost is a 100 pesos per couple and maximum strokes allowed per hole is 2.

Looking forward to seeing you.

Men’s Mixer – Wednesday, January 19th

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This Wednesday we will be playing a two-person scramble team game. After both players play their tee shot, they will decide which ball they will play for their second shot and each player will then play the ball from that position. After the second shot is played, the team will once again decide which ball to play for their next shot. This process will then be followed until the team completes the hole. Two additional caveats. Each team will need to use at least four tee shots from each player. Also, for team scoring purposes you will need to use 50% of the combined handicaps of the two players based on their normal handicap from the set of tees that they are playing from. For example, Player A has a 10 handicap from the White tees. Player B has a 20 handicap from the Gold tees. Their combined handicap for scoring purposes will be a 15 (50 % of 30). Please record the “net” team score for each hole and provide summary scores for the front 9, the back 9 and the total 18 hole score. Also, please circle all gross deuces (2’s) on your scorecard and remember to repair all divots.

Gringo Classic Update: Please review the post that was published yesterday from Alan Bayliss concerning the Gingo Classic event that will take place on February 16th and February 17th. Alan’s post provides an update concerning the format of the event and what you need to do to get registered to participate in the event. The normal Men’s League event scheduled for Wednesday, February 16th will be cancelled in lieu of the Gingo Classic and the calendar has been updated accordingly.

Reminder: Men’s League guidelines concerning unvaccinated players: The following agreement was reached by the Men’s League members: If you are unvaccinated, you need to let Markus know of your status by sending him a private email (markusgmelin@gmail.com) that will be kept confidential. For all other players, if you do not want to be paired with an unvaccinated player, you need to let Markus know of your request by sending him a private email that will also be kept confidential. Based on this information, Markus will be able to modify any of the computer-generated pairings to make sure that everyone’s wishes are honored. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Good luck to all players!

Markus

COVID Rules – Ladies League

COVID is now all around us in Nuevo Vallarta and spreading fast. We want to continue enjoying golf, but safely and without putting ourselves and others at risk.

Below are the rules for the coming weeks and months for the Ladies League, which we hope will keep the game from being the source of a COVID outbreak.

Everyone in the League should adopt and comply with these rules for herself and for all other players. There will be no enforcement police, but as friends, we should help each other to play golf safely. So by signing up for and playing in the League, you are implicitly telling your friends that you are complying with these rules.

1- I don’t play if I am not fully vaccinated.

2-I don’t play if I have COVID symptoms, whether COVID-tested positive or not.

3- If I have COVID, I don’t play until I reach at least 5 consecutive days without symptoms or get a negative test.

4- If I have been in close contact with a person having COVID in the last 5 days, I don’t play in the games.

5- I will not play within the first 5 days after arrival in Puerto Vallarta by plane or other public transportation. This rule is for regular as well as for temporary players.

COVID Rules for Skins Game
